What the adblock test checks

Four groups of six addresses. Each one is a real server that shows ads or collects data, taken from the filter lists Seawall uses.

Ad networks

Banners and video ads on websites. These servers choose the ad and deliver it to the page.

googleads.g.doubleclick.net · pagead2.googlesyndication.com · adservice.google.com

Trackers and analytics

Scripts that record what you do on a site and connect your visits across sites for ad targeting.

www.google-analytics.com · connect.facebook.net · bat.bing.com

Mobile game ads

Video ads and banners inside free games and apps. In apps they never pass through a browser, so only a blocker for the whole device stops them.

auction.unityads.unity3d.com · ms.applovin.com · outcome-ssp.supersonicads.com

Built-in device ads

Ads and data collection that phone and TV makers build into their software, for example on Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo and Amazon devices.

api.ad.xiaomi.com · tracking.miui.com · data.mistat.xiaomi.com

How to read your results

24 of 24 blocked

Your ad blocker stops every address in this test. With Seawall on, apps on this device use the same filters.

Some got through

See which groups have reachable addresses. Mobile game ads and built-in device ads matter most on phones and TVs, where ads come from apps, not the browser.

Few or none blocked

There’s no ad blocker in this browser, or it’s off. Many browsers block a few known trackers on their own, but ads still load.

A browser test can’t see your apps

This test runs in the browser, so it checks what this browser can reach. A browser extension protects only the browser it’s installed in. Seawall filters the whole device, apps and games included. To see what your apps tried to reach, turn on the query log in your Seawall account.

DNS, extension or app: compare the ways to block ads

Block what got through

Seawall blocks these addresses for the whole device, so ads stop in apps and games too.

Adblock test questions

How does this ad blocker test work?

Your browser tries to load a tiny file from each of the 24 addresses. If the request fails, the address counts as blocked. A browser extension, a DNS ad blocker and a blocker on your router all show up the same way.

Why doesn’t my ad blocker block all 24?

Filter lists differ. Many browser lists focus on websites, so servers of game ads and phone makers may be missing. Some ad blockers also let certain ads through by default.

Does this test check YouTube ads?

No. YouTube serves ads from the same servers as the videos, so a test by address can’t tell them apart, and neither can DNS. We’d rather say so up front.

Can I test my phone or smart TV?

Yes, open this page in the browser on that device. The result covers that browser. Apps don’t use the browser, so to see what they connect to, turn on the query log in your Seawall account.

Is the test safe? What does it send?

The test asks each address for a tiny file, without cookies or any data about you. If an address isn’t blocked, that company’s server sees an ordinary request from your IP address, as on any website with ads. The results stay in your browser.

Why does a website say I’m using an ad blocker?

The site checked whether its ad scripts loaded. With Seawall they don’t. If you want to support the site, add it to your allow list or pause protection for 10 minutes in your account.

Does it work with a DNS blocker on my router or home server?

Yes. Any blocker that stops this browser from reaching an address shows up in the result, whether it runs in the browser, on the device, on your router or on a home server.
