Information we collect
We only collect what Seawall needs to work.
Sign-up data
To create an account we ask for the minimum:
- Email address, to sign in, confirm and recover the account
- Password, stored only as a hash
- Registration date and last activity
Payment information
Payments are processed by payment provider; card details never touch Seawall servers. We keep the plan, invoices and payment status.
Devices and settings
What you set up in your account:
- Device names and their personal Seawall addresses
- Profiles, rules, schedules and allow and block lists
- Linked home IP address, for router and smart TV setups
DNS queries
To filter, Seawall sees the names of the sites and apps your devices look up, with the time and the device. They are used only to filter and are not saved, unless you turn on the query log.
Support and the assistant
Messages you send to support, with screenshots and, if you attach it, the connection check. Questions you ask Seawall assistant in your account.
How we use data
Collected information is used only to run and improve Seawall.
Service delivery
Filtering your devices, running your account, processing payments and answering support requests.
Product improvement
Statistics in aggregate, and website analytics only if you accept analytics cookies.
Security
Preventing fraud, abuse of our servers and incidents.
Communication
Emails about your account and payments. Status updates only if you subscribe.
We don’t sell, rent or share your personal data for marketing, and we don’t show ads.
Query log policy
The query log is off by default
Seawall filters each lookup and doesn’t keep the list of sites your devices open. Only you can turn the log on.
Data we do NOT keep
- The sites your devices look up, while the query log is off
- Your IP address together with your queries
- What you read or type: DNS only sees the names of sites
- Anything for advertising
Data we keep to run the service
- Email and password hash
- Devices, profiles, rules and settings
- Statistics: counts of requests and blocked requests, and the blocked ad and tracker addresses
- Subscription and payment records required for accounting
We keep it for 1, 7, 30 or 90 days, as you choose, and you can clear it at any time. In a child’s profile, only the parent can turn it on.
Data security
We protect your data at every step.
Encryption
DNS over HTTPS, DNS over TLS and DNS over QUIC between your devices and Seawall; HTTPS for the account and the website.
Where data is stored
Account data, statistics and the query log stay in the EU, in Germany. DNS queries are filtered on the server closest to the device.
Access control
Only staff who need it can access personal data, and they sign in with two-factor authentication.
Service providers
Hosting, email, payments, the AI assistant and analytics, only with consent process data on our behalf under data protection contracts.
Breach response plan
If we detect a possible incident, we:
- Isolate the affected systems
- Notify the data protection authority within 72 hours when the law requires it
- Inform the affected customers
- Investigate and fix the cause

Correct it
Change your details in the account, or ask support.
Delete it

Get your data as a machine-readable JSON file.
Restrict or object
Ask us to limit processing, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests.

We reply within one month. If we need more time, we tell you before then.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example in the country where you live or work.
Children and family profiles
Family plan
The Family plan is for parents and guardians. The account holder must be an adult and sets up profiles for children: a name chosen by the parent, the child’s devices and rules. Children’s queries are filtered like yours, and the query log in a child’s profile is off unless the parent turns it on. We don’t offer accounts to children.
Who we are
Controller

When an office uses Seawall for its network, the office is responsible for its staff’s and guests’ data, and we process it on the office’s behalf under our data processing agreement.
